Purpose: To perform the daily functions of the CIM Box Office and provide outstanding customer service to all patrons interacting with CIM and assist in the day-to-day marketing operations. Gain experience in customer service, ticketing and marketing that can help diversify your professional skill set. 

Duties and Responsibilities:  

This job requires office hours. This will be set around your weekly schedule in addition to shifts that can be added before concerts on evenings and weekends.  

This job will require interacting with the public.  

  • Be trained in the ticketing system "Arts People" by the supervisor.  
  • Be trained in the email system "Constant Contact" by the supervisor.
  • To process free seating passes, paid opera tickets, and all other ticketing functions for the public via phone, internet, or in person. 
  • To assist in weekly creation of e-newsletters such as Student and Employee News.
  • To assist in weekly creation of e-blasts for events.
  • To batch print tickets and organize will call alphabetically.  
  • Provide information regarding a variety of concerts and events for interested callers. 
  • Assist in the compilation of "From the Field" industry reports.
  • Other office duties such as data import, filing, and printing.  

Rate of Pay: $12.00/hr with a minimum of 4 hours a week in office in addition to concert shifts.   

Qualifications:  

  • Punctual and reliable .
  • Excellent customer service abilities and strong spoken and written communication skills .
  • Ability to handle money with accuracy .
  • Ability to work with database systems and office software.
  • Ability to work on select evenings and weekend events .
  • Must be responsible and well-organized, with good time management skills. 
  • Previous box office experience helpful, but not necessary.
  • Ability to work independently.  
  • Interest in learning about the philanthropic basis of a career in classical music.
  • Professionalism and maturity when interacting with patrons and dealing with confidential information.  
  • Ability to carry supplies and stand for periods of time. 
  • Interest in supporting all aspects of events, as needed.  
  • Ability to organize student activities.  

Length of Employment: 8/28/23 to 5/9/24, or the date a student has earned their full Work Study award, or is no longer enrolled full time, whichever comes first. 

Evaluation Procedures and Schedules:  Schedule is determined by your weekly availability during box office hours and concert shifts on the evening and weekends are chosen by the work study. Student must meet minimum evening/weekend event requirements. No work should be done outside of agreed schedule.
